Livestock
The main operation at Locmaria Farms is high-intensity grazing of livestock. We focus on production of premium quality prime lamb for the domestic and export markets.
Our production method is based on regenerative cell grazing, which allows us to run high stocking rates compared to traditional methods. We employ efficient irrigation systems and well-managed pastures that make us self-sufficient in feed on normal years.
We are building a high-performing, self-replacing sheep flock, 100% Primeline genetics, in order to optimise the production and quality of meat produced. Our production system is also well suited for beef production, and we are currently running a small flock of cattle at the side of sheep.
Wine grapes
In addition to livestock Locmaria Farms runs a wine grapes growing operation at the adjacent Guthries vineyard, in Wrattonbully wine region. We grow Sustainable Winegrowing Australia -certified Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Petit Verdot -grapes that are sold to wine makers for both domestic and export markets.
